Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is rich in beneficial nutrients. It contains 60 to 70% of high-quality protein and a number of vitamins and minerals. Additionally, spirulina contains a wide range of good fats. The numerous pigments in spirulina are also important nutrients for our body.
Spirulina has a soft cell wall and is therefore easy to digest.
Glucose is stored in the algae in the form of glycogen that is broken down very quickly in the liver and provides energy. The presence of these energy generating elements make spirulina is sometimes called the "wonder algue".
