Electrolyte drink

ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) is a combination of dextrose and the minerals potassium and sodium. This basic formula, based on the World Health Organization, was flavored with a orange or coconut flavor. The correct concentrations of salts and dextrose facilitate absorption in the small intestine by being absorbed there together. ORS is used to absorb large fluid losses during extreme heat to avoid dehydration. Please note that this is not an alternative to isotonic drinks, rather a supplement.
